What it does

Keep a list of the films you watch every Spooky Season, and remember the new ones you discover

• Your list

  Search by title and it fills in the year, poster, runtime and synopsis for you. Thumbs up or down, and flag the ones you have to watch every year.

• What to Watch Tonight

  Can't decide what to watch? BooFlix randomly selects a movie from your List for watching.

• Where to watch it

  What is streaming where you are, right now, for the services you actually have — hide the rest so the list stays useful.

• What you own

  Physical or digital, tracked separately from streaming, because the disc on your shelf does not leave the service in December.

• Log a watch

  Every viewing, with the date and a note if you want one. Watch the same film three times in a season and it counts all three.

• Your season, drawn

  Visualize the movies you've watched this year, track your viewing streak, and get ready for Halloween!

• Track every year

  See how this year's viewing stacks up against previous years.

• Public lists (optional)

  Publish yours if you want to, and check out other people's lists. There is a curated BooFlix List too, for when nothing sounds right.

• Discover new favorites

  Check out the most popular movies, what movies are in the most lists, getting the most watches, and the most thumbs up.

Why we made it

Because we love movies, especially horror movies! We have our favorites, and watch them every year. So we started tracking them. Every year we'd watch some of the same, and we'd grow the list with new releases, and uncovering old classics. So we thought we'd replace the spreadsheet with an app, and share that app with you.

We're not trying to make money with BooFlix. No ads, no subscription, no selling your data — just a fun project for us and other like-minded Halloween fans.

The plain dealing

• It is free, and there is no subscription waiting behind it.
• There are no ads. There is no ad code in the app at all.
• Nobody buys your data, because it is not for sale.
• You don't have to make an account, you can use most of the features as a guest (guests cannot make lists public, and your data won't transfer to another device)
• Your list is yours. Nothing is published unless you publish it, and you can export the whole thing — films and watch history — to a file whenever you like.
• You can delete the account from inside the app, and it takes the data with it.
